Choose a wedding siteI love Aroostook County, and would never call any place else home. However, it does seem to limit the number of locations we have for weddings and receptions. There are a number of things that you need to take into consideration when selecting a location. One of the most important ones is how many people will be attending. If you want a small intimate wedding, with just immediate family and friends, there are a number of options that would not fit a larger group. Next take think about the atmosphere you want to set. Many people want to have an outdoor wedding and receptions, and we have a number of lovely locations to offer. However, remember that no one can control the weather. You may have a beautiful sunny day, or it may pour non-stop… This aspect is out of our control. Yes, weather can be a terrible worry with an outdoor wedding. However, we all know that when things go right they can be beautiful! If you really want an outdoor wedding I would recommend a laidback attitude, a flexible calendar or a second location. We have a number of beautiful, rustic and elegant locations already on our vendor list and are looking for more. Consider what your dream wedding would be like. Is there a place that you think would be perfect? Make a list of locations that you would consider. Now you have to consider your budget and the amount of work you want to do. A hall rented from a local hotel or the university will cost a lot. However, the food, tables, place settings, and some of the basic decorations will be included. They will also set-up, take down, and clean up as part of the cost. You will still need to arrange for the music, favors, and the table decorations. Many of the clubhouses are more affordable, but don't forget to figure in all the extras. Many might provide tables and chairs, but not tablecloths, place settings, food, and don't forget the set-up and clean up. How much are you, your family and friends willing to do? When you make your final choice be sure to get a written contract securing the reception date. It should clearly state what is included for the price, all the responsibilities, warranties and guarantees. Read through it carefully, and be sure that you fully understand everything. Most contracts will allow you three days to look everything over, and to back out if you change your mind with no cancellation penalty. |
