No Need to Elope! Have a Beautiful Wedding in Weeks
If you read all the articles and look at the 12 to 18 month time tables you might believe that it is impossible to have an elegant wedding with only a few month, so a couple of weeks is unthinkable. You cannot wait, so eloping is the only option. Many couples find that job opportunities, pregnancies, or passion make it impossible to wait for months for the wedding. Needless to say it would be very difficult to pull of the wedding of the year for several hundred people. Yes, some sacrifices will need to be made.
However, a beautiful, intimate and romantic wedding and reception for close family and friends is not out of reach. A lovely garden wedding in the spring, summer or fall would add the beauty of nature without having to spend a fortune or time getting decorations.
If you prefer an indoor wedding a local church is always a good choice. If you are not a member of a congregation there are a number of beautiful churches that will marry couples that are not members. A home is another beautiful place to have a small intimate wedding and buffet reception. Consider the homes of your family and friends. We do know of a few people with lovely homes that will host small weddings.
Invitations
There are invitations at Wal-Mart that can easily be designed and printed at home. We can help with the wording and printing, so they can be ready to go in a few days. Within Aroostook County they should be delivered overnight, but consider backing up the invitations with a phone call. For people that live out of state, or too far away to attend the wedding, send out Wedding Announcements after the ceremony is over.
Wedding Cake
When time is a real limitation the Wal-Mart bakery makes very nice wedding cakes. They have a good flavor, and there are a many styles to choose from. We also have a lovely floating cake stand, that will add to the unique and elegance of the wedding cake.
Wedding Dress
Finding the right wedding dress may be a challenge in two weeks. I would check at Pancsofar's Bridal Shop if you want a traditional wedding dress. They do have a fair number in stock, and in a variety of sizes. Other options might include a trip down state to David's Bridal. They have a very large selection of wedding dresses.
Having a simple, elegant dress made for the wedding is another option. Do you or one of your family members sew? If not there is a seamstress in the county that might be able to meet your needs and timetable. There are quite a few wedding patterns in the books at Wal-Mart. The biggest challenge is the fabric, and that would require a trip to Bangor, by you or the seamstress.
Finally don't forget to check with friends and relatives. You might be surprised to find the perfect dress within your circle of friends.
Decorations & Supplies
We have many wedding essentials and decorations in stock, and almost always have enough on hand to host a wedding of up to 75 people. We have: champagne fountains, a white wedding arch, round banquet tablecloths, rectangle banquet tablecloths, cloth napkin, quality disposable plates and flatware, banquet goblets, and wine glasses…. For other items we have an excellent working relationship with a number of vendors, and can get additional items within a week.
The Reception Food
There are a number of options. First, consider having the reception at a small restaurant. Some have separate rooms for this type of occasions, and a few will allow you to rent the entire restaurant. These are nice as there is not additional work that needs to be done, but obvious this is the most expensive option.
To save time and money consider providing your own food for the reception. For a nice desert buffet ask some of your close friends and relatives to make a variety of special treats. Then contact a local bakery and purchase a few extra special and fancy pastries. Along with a nice punch, coffee and tea this is a very nice option for a reception that is not help around mealtime. Guests can easily walk around and visit as they snack on the deserts, so there is no need to have enough seating for everyone during the reception.
If you want to have something more substantial a buffet with a mixture of finger foods, and a few hot entries would be a good choice. Many of these food items can be made in advance, and my staff will refill the plates, as they become empty. A nice menu might include: cheese & cracker platters, vegetable & dip platters, deviled eggs, finger roll sandwiches (crab, ham, egg…), sweet & sour meatballs, barbequed mini links…. Another nice item to add, if you like them, are several tier servers of small shrimp. The hot items can be kept warm in crock-pots. All of these items are easy to make, and can be presented very elegantly on a buffet table.
